Where Have I Been?

Gambar
Anne (aka A Gamer's Wife) here. Wow, you would not believe all that I've been through since last year. Here's a few updates: 1) My husband is trying to get out of the video game industry That's right, folks. After two decades of being a video game developer, first in art then as a designer, K has decided to quit his "dream job." Making video games is hard work, both for giant companies and indie start-ups, and in this season of his life, he wants to spend more time with his young kids and have more creative control over his work. K dreams of making comedy videos, creating YouTube tutorials for painting miniature figures, writing a novel, patenting his many ideas, and more. So we'll see what direction God takes us. I'm currently back to working remotely for a marketing company as a technical writer, and my oldest kid has just started school (what?). I think because I've been writing so much for my job, it's actually gotten my own creative ju...

New Season, New Hobbies

Gambar
I've always been a collector of new hobbies. I think it's because my parents were immigrants and they were fascinated by this American idea of "extracurricular activities." In their country, getting good grades was everything, so their days consisted of going to school, attending after-school classes for more tutoring, and then returning home to eat dinner and do homework. They never got to do anything! So once I was born in the United States, they signed me up for every type of class imaginable. One year of ballet and tap dancing, one year of gymnastics, summer camps for art and science, team sports like soccer, music lessons like piano, public speaking and second language classes on weekends, etc. Because of my parents' enthusiasm for making sure I was well-rounded, I developed a lifelong love for trying new things. As a child, I collected stamps, did cross stitching, and owned a parakeet. In high school, I listened to musicals, competed in science fair, and j...

Welcome To The World, Rosalina!

Gambar
We're happy to announce the arrival of our beautiful baby girl! Huge props to God for such a smooth pregnancy, easy delivery, and healthy baby. Plus, she's the first female to be born in K's family for the past 2 generations. We are so blessed indeed! Even though this was my second pregnancy, I got to experience many things for the first time with Rosalina's birth. I wasn't induced so I was able to count contractions at home, and my water broke naturally on its own. I got the perfect epidural and was able to feel each contraction without pain. When it was time to push, K put on the Castlevania: Lords of Shadow soundtrack so that I could have some epic, adrenalin-pumping battle music in the background. Four contractions later, and she was born! All in all, I was in Labor and Delivery for just 4 hours, and because of my fast recovery, we only stayed one night on the hospital. It was absolutely the best birth I ever could have wished for! We had a hard time c...

Poll: A Superhero Mask For Making Secret Identity Selfies?

Gambar
I'm totally enthralled with the newness of my Instagram account right now and have been posting daily pictures based on Fat Mum Slim's photo-a-day challenge list . However, I'm a little jealous of other people's ability to post selfies since, as an anonymous blogger, I can't really show my face. :) But what if... I could somehow hide my face, like a superhero or something? Ooo, idea forming... Thus began my quest for the perfect mask. 1) Zsa Mask My first attempt at making a mask seemed to fit all the requirements: the majority of my face/head would be covered and it kinda looked like a superhero/cat hat, which is super cute, right? Mmm, not so much. Maybe a kid could get away with it, but when I put on the simpulan creation, I seriously got this weird vibe, like I was cosplaying for a furry convention (if you don't know what I'm talking about, don't look it up). In fact, K walked in on me trying it out for the first time and totally burst out laughin...
